Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our dental services and treatments.
General
How often should I visit the dentist?
For most people, visiting the dentist every 6 months is ideal for routine checkups and cleanings. However, those with gum disease, diabetes, or other risk factors may need to visit more frequently. Your dentist will recommend a schedule based on your individual needs.
Do you offer emergency dental care?
Yes, Glamour Dental provides same-day emergency appointments for urgent dental problems. If you're experiencing severe tooth pain, have a broken tooth, or lost a filling, contact us immediately. We prioritize emergency cases and work to relieve your pain and restore your tooth as quickly as possible.
Is professional cleaning necessary if I brush and floss daily?
Even with excellent home care, professional cleaning is essential. Your dentist and hygienist can remove tartar (hardened plaque) that you cannot remove at home. Professional cleaning also allows us to detect early signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. We recommend cleanings every 6 months for most people.
Cosmetic
Is teeth whitening safe?
Yes, professional teeth whitening at Glamour Dental is safe when performed by a qualified dentist. We use professional-grade whitening agents and protective measures to ensure your tooth enamel remains healthy. Over-the-counter products can sometimes cause sensitivity, which is why professional treatment is recommended.
How long will dental veneers last?
Porcelain veneers typically last years with proper care. They are stain-resistant and very durable. Longevity depends on factors like your bite, oral hygiene habits, and whether you grind your teeth. We recommend avoiding chewing on hard objects and maintaining good oral hygiene.
Implants
What is the success rate of dental implants?
Dental implants have a success rate of 95-98% when placed and maintained properly. The key to long-term success is good oral hygiene, regular checkups, and healthy gums. Our certified dental surgeons use advanced 3D imaging and proven techniques to maximize success rates.
Can I eat normally with dental implants?
Yes! Once your implant has fully integrated (typically 3-6 months) and your crown is placed, you can eat virtually any food. Implants function like natural teeth. However, initially after placement, you'll need to stick to soft foods while the bone integrates with the implant.
Orthodontics
Are braces painful?
Braces are not painful, though you may experience mild discomfort or soreness for a few days after adjustments as your teeth begin to move. This is temporary and normal. We provide wax and tips to manage any discomfort. Modern braces and clear aligners cause much less discomfort than older systems.
Gum Health
What causes gum disease?
Gum disease is primarily caused by plaque buildup on teeth and gums. Poor oral hygiene, smoking, hormonal changes, stress, and certain medications can increase your risk. Early stages (gingivitis) are reversible with improved oral hygiene and professional cleaning. Advanced stages (periodontitis) require more intensive treatment.
Emergency
What should I do if I lose a tooth?
If you lose a tooth, time is critical. Rinse the tooth gently (don't scrub), hold it by the crown, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. If not, keep it in milk or a tooth preservation solution. Contact us immediately. We may be able to replant the tooth if treated promptly, or discuss replacement options like implants, bridges, or dentures.
Cost
What is the cost of a dental implant?
Dental implant costs vary depending on factors like the location of the missing tooth, bone grafting needs, and whether additional procedures are required. We provide transparent pricing and payment plans to make implants accessible. Contact us for a consultation and detailed quote based on your specific situation.
Insurance
Are your treatments covered by insurance?
Many of our treatments are covered by dental insurance plans. Coverage varies depending on your specific plan and the treatment. We work with most major insurance providers and can help verify your coverage. We also offer flexible payment plans for treatments not fully covered by insurance.
Prevention
How can I prevent cavities?
Prevent cavities by brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, limiting sugary foods and drinks, and visiting the dentist regularly. Dental sealants on molars and fluoride treatments can provide additional protection. Good oral hygiene combined with regular professional care is the most effective prevention strategy.
